The average age of a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) is just over 49-years-old. Two alumni, Erick Blank ’18 and Adam Saubel ’18  are one step closer to lowering that average by passing their CFP exams this April at the ages of 23 and 22, respectively. Blank and Saubel both earned their Bachelor of Science from E-town with a concentration in Finance. They wasted no time in completing

the additional preliminary requirements to sit for the CFP exam in what The American College of Financial Services has verified is the fastest in history. In what typically takes professionals nine to 12 months to complete, the two accomplished their pre-exam requirements in just eight months. Each of them credits their experience at E-town for their quick success.

“The Business Department has been the launch pad behind everything I have done so far in my career,” Saubel said. “The professors and department had endless resources for me to explore new opportunities in different industries and find my passions before leaving college. I can’t thank E-town enough.”

Currently, Erick and Adam run their own financial planning practices with Northwestern Mutual in Lancaster. In the short time since graduation, they have established themselves in the region.

“We spend our days meeting with potential and existing clients, but behind the scenes, we are building and implementing investment and retirement strategies and portfolios given the needs and expectations of our clients,” Blank said. “We literally design, create, implement and monitor comprehensive financial plans from scratch, on a case by case basis, tailored to the wants and needs of the individual, family or small business.”

Elizabethtown’s Business Department equips students with advanced skills in the field of business with a focus on connecting them with reputable companies involved within each discipline.

“In the current dynamic environment, we try to grasp market opportunities by providing a state-of-the-art curriculum that responds to the changing needs of the business world,” E-town Business Department Chair Dr. Christina Ciocirlan said.

With that strategy in mind, Blank and Saubel serve as a shining example of what E-town graduates can achieve.

“Given the relationship-based nature of the financial planning and advisory field, Adam and Erick are well-suited for their roles,” Ciocirlan said.
