Recently, several Elizabethtown College students participated in The Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania’s (AICUPs) Student Aid Advocacy Day in Harrisburg along with more than 200 students from 40 
different colleges and universities to advocate for student aid in private higher education.
“Student Aid Advocacy Day is an important time for students, staff, and administrators to advocate for financial aid for students who benefit from the value and quality of private independent colleges and universities,” E-town Assistant Director of Financial Aid Unique Patterson said. “Through this day, we are able to share our experiences with legislators and tell them about the importance of financial aid and how the state Budget plays a role in determining some of the aid offered to our students.”
AICUP and students held a rally at the State Capital and met with legislators from their respective districts to share their opinions on protecting the current maximum PHEAA grant award.
“It is vital that we advocate for those who need it and to continue to support not just our own education, but the integrity of future education for all,” E-town student Caitlin Olivas said. “We owe it to ourselves to speak up for what we need and to call upon our representatives and senators to support every individual who seeks to better themselves and society as a whole.”
Students also advocated for full funding of the Ready to Succeed Scholarship Program.
