Donald Kraybill, Distinguished College Professor and Senior Young Fellow, was interviewed on the Aug. 4 WITF Smart Talk segment, “Amish being exploited on TV?” Kraybill discusses the controversy surrounding popular reality TV shows portraying the Amish.
Also, Kraybill had an excerpt from his book shared in the YahooNEWS article, “Excerpt: Renegade Amish: Beard Cutting, Hate Crimes, and the Trial of the Bergholz Barbers,” Aug. 28, and
He also wrote an article for TIME, “Hate Crime Laws: What the Amish Beard Cutting Case Means for the Rest of Us,” published on Aug. 29. The article discussed the global implications of the Amish beard cutting incident.
Dr. Robert Wheelersburg, professor of anthropology, was interviewed by WITF for the radio segment, “Smart Talk: Iceland Volcano ”, aired on Aug. 21. In the interview, Wheelersburg, who has lived in Iceland, was asked to share his unique perspective on the current volcanic activity in that region.
