Jean Pretz, associate professor of psychology, had her creativity research highlighted in June 1 NPR interview “Creativity, Dirty Eggs And Vocal Fry: The Week In Science” by reporter Rachel Martin.  Pretz conducted a study gauging if people perceive themselves as more creative than they actually are.

 

Dr. Donald Kraybill, Distinguished College Professor and Young Center Senior Fellow, was quoted in the Lancaster Newspapers article “Technology grows as part of Pa. Amish life” posted May 24. The article discusses integration of certain technology into Amish society.

 

Dr. David Bowne, assistant professor of biology, had his study on greenhouse emissions mentioned in the June 1 article “Lawn Upload.” His study showed that carbon dioxide emissions were measurably higher around residential lawns than croplands.

 

Dr. John Kokolus, Dean of the School of Continuing and Professional Studies, wrote a blog post, “Lessons from the Frontier: How Main Campus Can Learn from CE,” on the website, TheEvoLLLution.  The article shared successful aspects of continuing education programs that could be adapted to main campus.

 

Amy Shorner-Johnson shared advice in the June 9 Lancaster Newspapers article “21 tips: How to find solitude (however brief) at work.” The article gave suggestions for boosting productivity at work by taking a break.

 

Michael Mitchell, executive director of the S. Dale High Center, was featured in a York Daily Record article, “For some Dads, every day at work is Father’s Day,” published June 15. The story checked in with family-owned area businesses and Mitchell shared the dynamics that often arise when working with relatives.

 

Dr. Donald Kraybill, Distinguished College Professor and Young Center Senior Fellow, was interviewed on WGAL-TV8 on June 16. In the segment, Kraybill discussed the “trendsetting  Amish” who are choosing to leave the Lancaster area.

 

Dr. David Downing, professor of English, was quoted in the June 20 Lancaster Newspaper article, “Tweeps: You won’t believe the words Merriam-Webster added to the dictionary.” The article took viewpoints from a variety of sources who shared opinions about recent additions to the dictionary.
