Elizabethtown College alumnus Bob ’74 Rigg and his wife, Karen, received the 2026 Chester County Futures (CCF) Transformational Impact Award. Recognized during the CCF’s 30th Anniversary Celebration on Sept. 17 at the Downingtown Country Club, the Riggs were honored for their extraordinary generosity and steadfast commitment to expanding educational opportunity through the Robert ’74 and Karen Rigg Chester County Futures Scholarship.

“Bob and Karen exemplify the transformative impact philanthropy can have on students’ lives,” Elizabethtown College President Betty Rider said. “The recognition from Chester County Futures is well deserved, and Bob continues to exemplify how Etown alumni make a meaningful impact by living out our commitment to Educate for Service.”

Established in 2018, the scholarship provides full room, board, and tuition for up to eight semesters to underrepresented or first-generation students from either Chester or Berks counties each year who attend Elizabethtown College. Scholarship recipients are also expected to participate in Etown’s Momentum program, which introduces incoming students to the College’s robust curriculum through real-world learning opportunities and helps them acclimate to the college environment.

The CCF scholarship and the Riggs’ transformative commitment to expanding educational opportunities for students also helped launch the College’s Build Brighter Futures: The Scholarship Campaign for Etown Students. To date, the campaign has raised more than $36 million toward its $40 million goal.

The Riggs are dedicated supporters of the CCF program, which connects students with opportunities, resources, and support to empower success in school and post-secondary life.

Bob has served as a director on more than a dozen nonprofits, including serving as chair of the board and now director emeritus of the Chester County Community Foundation. He retired in 2022 as president of the nationally honored insurance and risk management brokerage firm The Rigg Darlington Group.

He was honored as the recipient of the 2022-23 Educate For Service: Service to the College award, which is among the most distinguished given to alumni of the College who demonstrate a commitment to the institution’s motto, Educate for Service.
