Jenna Smith ’08, MSOT’09

Elizabethtown College Occupational Therapy alumna Jenna Smith ’08, MSOT’09, has dedicated both her personal and professional life to embodying Etown’s Educate for Service motto, providing exceptional patient care and uplifting members of the local community.

Specializing in geriatric occupational therapy, Smith has served in various leadership roles for more than half of her career. Currently based in Virginia, she is an Occupational Therapist and Director of Rehab for nationwide therapy provider Functional Pathways, where she works to cultivate a positive work environment centered around holistic patient care.

Smith is also a founder and board member of a local nonprofit, The Downbeat Foundation, that provides drum lessons and instruments to disadvantaged students in the Harrisburg, Pa., area. The Downbeat Foundation was started in October 2025, in honor of Smith’s late husband, Ben, who was an avid music lover and talented drummer. The foundation champions accessibility to music and equal opportunity for all, which aligns with Ben’s life approach of marching to the beat of your own drum and treating everyone with love and compassion.

“Etown provided me with the foundations of leadership to create and develop a positive work environment that focuses on patient-centered care,” Smith said.
