“Service, and participating in events like the Day of Service, is important to me because it gives me a sense of purpose and allows me to positively impact others’ lives in a tangible way,” Aidelis Andino Guzman ’26, Psychology and Spanish major, said.

Over 315 Blue Jay students, faculty, staff, and alumni volunteered to support those in need by packing more than 45,000 meal kits for people facing food insecurity across the globe.

The event, which was organized by the Center for Community and Civic Engagement (CCCE), was made possible through the support of the Center for Global Understanding and Peacebuilding, the Institute for Engagement, Mission, and Impact, the Social Work Department, and Members First Credit Union.

Unto, a humanitarian organization based in Mount Joy, Pa., provides critical necessities such as food, clean water, agriculture, blankets, clothing, hygiene products, and temporary shelter for individuals in need. For over 30 years, Unto has been serving more than 75 countries around the world.

“Spring Day of Service is a highlight of CCCE’s programming for our campus community,” Brianna Titi, ’19, M’22, Elizabethtown College CCCE Program Manager, said. “As an alumna, it’s powerful to witness what’s possible when service, community, and collaboration come together — and I’m so thankful for everyone who is involved, especially my student team, who make this event possible.”

The CCCE is part of a collective of programs belonging to Etown’s Institute for Engagement, Mission, and Impact. Through collaborative learning, meaningful dialogue, and community-driven action, the Institute fosters a campus culture centered on inclusion, service, and advocacy. Discover more.
