Elizabethtown College’s High Library IDEA Lab is currently hosting Z Jays: An Exhibit Exploring Generation Z. A Collaboration between the Teaching & Learning Design Studio and the High Library, the exhibit is available now through the spring 2026 semester and is designed for students, staff, and faculty to learn with and from each other.
“We’re hoping to receive feedback from students regarding their learning styles, study preferences, reading habits, and social activities,” Sarah Penniman, Elizabethtown College Librarian and Director of the High Library, said. “We’re interested in gathering information that will help us — the High Library, the Teaching and Learning Design Studio, and other College departments — to understand how best to support you as students and future leaders.”
The exhibit has many activities and interactive prompts for students and professors to provide feedback for evaluation. Features include an area to write song titles and lyrics that define Gen Z, QR codes that lead to the podcast, “Why is Gen Z Feeling So Stressed?”, and articles detailing the Gen Z experience.
Additionally, there are interactive prompts featuring questions like, “What information or resources do you need to help support the Gen Z students in your classroom?” and, “What would you like your instructors to know that may help them teach you better?” that are designed to foster mutual understanding and support.
“We’d like visitors to gain an even deeper appreciation and respect for Generation Z students – their hopes and ambitions, their challenges, and their suggestions for making our classrooms and learning environments as vibrant and as responsive as possible,” Penniman said.
