Elizabethtown College’s Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD) first-year honor society chapter was recently awarded the organization’s Delta Bronze award, nationally recognizing them for their significant increase in membership percentage.
“We are deeply honored to be recognized for the growth and sustained vibrancy of our chapter,” Chapter Advisor and Elizabethtown College Professor of Music, Justin Badgerow said. “Continued membership success is critical, as it directly impacts our ability to serve our students.”
The award, granted to fewer than 60 chapters nationwide each year, recognizes chapters that have achieved a significant increase in membership percentage from the previous year. Four members of Etown’s ALD chapter, along with Badgerow, accepted the award at the ALD National Leadership Conference in Alexandria, Va., in late October.
At the conference, members of the chapter attended informative breakout sessions where they learned about positive initiatives taken by other ALD chapters and ways to implement them on Etown’s campus. They also took part in meaningful service projects, giving back to veterans and local libraries.
The award grants the chapter and its members the opportunity to receive scholarships offered by the ALD organization, providing increased opportunities for growth and personal advancement.
Currently consisting of nearly 400 members, Etown’s ALD chapter is continuously expanding. An average of 100 new members are inducted each year in an induction ceremony held during the spring semester. Students who have maintained a GPA of 3.5 or higher during their first semester of their first year are eligible for membership.
Etown’s Alpha Lambda Delta chapter aims to facilitate academic achievement, intelligent living, and goal-oriented learning among first-year students.
