Dr. Jeanne Elberfeld

Licensed social worker and retired family practitioner, Dr. Jeanne Elberfeld, will deliver the 2025 Peace Fellow Lecture

Elizabethtown College’s Center for Global Understanding and Peacebuilding (CGUP) will host Dr. Jeanne Elberfeld, a licensed social worker and retired family practitioner, for the annual Peace Fellow Lecture on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m. on campus in the Susquehanna Room, Myer Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Elberfeld will present her lecture, “Peace Is Not in Our Control,” which explores how society can nurture strong children and families to become integrated, connected individuals who are the light-bearers and peacemakers our world needs, through the harmony of body, mind, and spirit.

“As an educator, I am inspired by Dr. Elberfeld’s work focused on trauma-informed care that supports young children and their families,” Elizabethtown College Director of CGUP, Dr. Shannon Haley-Mize said. “It is an honor to have her on campus and to learn from her wealth of knowledge and years of practice.”

Elberfeld works with Child Development, Inc. as a mental health consultant and as a NeuroLogic® by Lakeside Trainer and Coach. She currently offers training for schools and community groups in brain and body-based understanding and behavioral interventions, honoring the unique needs of the person.

She studied pre-med/biochemistry at Gannon University before earning an M.D. from Hahnemann University School of Medicine, now Drexel University College of Medicine, in 1987. She completed a three-year residency and was board-certified in Family Medicine in 1990.

Elberfeld follows in a tradition of esteemed Peace Fellows at Elizabethtown College, as each year, the College hosts a several-day residency of a peace scholar. The lecture is sponsored by the Elizabethtown College Peace Fellowship in conjunction with the CGUP. Learn more.
