A group of Elizabethtown College Criminal Justice and Sociology students, alumni, and Professor of Sociology Michele Lee Kozimor ’93 recently published film reviews in Teaching Sociology, the official pedagogy journal of the American Sociological Association.

The reviews were written as part of an assignment in Kozimor’s Sociology course, Marriage and Family Class, in the spring of 2024, then submitted to the journal and published in Volume 53, Issue 1 of Teaching Sociology.

Hannah Smith ’25, Anita Smith ’24, and Kozimor co-authored a review of “Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey,” a four-episode documentary series on Netflix following the rise and fall of Warren Jeffs within the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS). Their article examined the pedagogical utility of the series.

Ryan Wittman ’25, Garret Schwartzbeck ’24, Aidan Schweizer ’24, and Kozimor co-authored a film review of “Kelce,” a documentary available on Amazon about the Kelce football family. Their review examined the value of using the film in undergraduate courses focused on work-life balance, families, as well as sports and society.

The reviews can be found in the print edition of the journal and online.
