Saltuk Doganci ’00

An Elizabethtown College education is for people who feel the pull to contribute to the world. With a network of 24,425 living alumni, our graduates leave Etown to become the influential advocates and changemakers the world needs more of.

Meet Saltuk Doganci ’00, an International Business alumnus, who moved back to his home country of Turkey shortly after graduation to start his own company exporting brick and building materials before returning to the United States to continue his career as founder and owner at Faceables Decorative Brick & Stone Coverings, LLC.

β€œAt Etown, I learned to say hi to people I didn’t know. We didn’t do that in my city where more than 10 million people lived. My experience at Etown was not only about the education I received, it was about learning to be a better, kinder person.”

What defined your Etown experience?

I attended Etown with my sister after her college counselor at a Turkish High School recommended Etown. As an international business major, I was involved with the International Club and worked at the Jays Nest. The small, family-like community at Etown was incredibly important for my education and development as a person. I received an excellent education at Etown, and it’s where I got to know a different culture.

How has Etown changed you as a person?

At Etown, I learned to say hi to people I didn’t know. We didn’t do that in my city where more than 10 million people lived. My experience at Etown was not only about the education I received, it was about learning to be a better, kinder person.

How has your Etown degree benefitted you and your career success?

I moved back to Turkey after graduating in 2000, where I started my own business exporting bricks and building materials and traveling between Turkey and the United States. At a later point in time, I moved back to the United States, where I shifted to importing the aforementioned materials at the business that I still run today.

I definitely credit my strong Etown education as a factor in my success. Etown helped me become a better person during my time here.

What is your hope for the future of Elizabethtown College?

I want Etown to have the same type of alumni network that other, bigger schools have. I want to see Etown’s alumni connection grow stronger, allowing alumni to be more connected to the College and each other, developing more opportunities for current students to connect with alumni, and creating job and networking opportunities through this alumni connection.
