Two Elizabethtown College Music Therapy majors were recently elected to the Mid-Atlantic Region of the American Music Therapy Association (MAR-AMTA) Student Board.

Cierra Culp-Mason ’24 was selected as secretary and Nicole Pinnella ’24 was chosen as historian for the board. The terms are one-year volunteer positions.

“Etown’s Music Therapy program encourages students to follow the mission of Educate for Service,” Elizabethtown College Director of Music Therapy, Emily Frantz said. “Being involved in MAR-AMTA provides opportunities to serve the profession and build connections with professional and student music therapists.”

Culp-Mason’s role as secretary will place her as the main point of contact for music therapy programs at each higher education institution in the region. She is well-equipped for the role, having previously served as secretary in Etown’s music therapy club, Alpha Mu.

As historian, Pinella records information about the board and oversees the historian committee. She ran for the position to understand more about music therapy’s roots and connect with other individuals who are passionate about music therapy.

The MAR-AMTA Student Board

Etown Music Therapy students have a long history of volunteering with MAR-AMTA and are involved with its student organization, the Mid-Atlantic Regional Association for Music Therapy Students.

“Etown’s Music Therapy program is setting me up for success by providing a well-rounded education that has taught me how to be a confident musician, as well as a prepared therapist that is well versed in ethics, counseling skills, and psychological models,” Pinella said.
